Pressing is the most important part of sewing, especially when you want to achieve professional results. The bottom line is steam and a few pressing tools. Here are a few key tools to the trade: (many are available on our website)
- Quality Iron with steam. Make sure the iron does not spit water droplets!
- Clapper
- Tailor's Ham - for pressing curved seams such as princess seam, pocket edge, darts, sleeve cap, etc.
- Sleeve Board - used for pressing sleeves, seams open, narrow openings, etc.
- Press Cloth - Use a light-weight fabric to protect what you are working on. I usually use cotton, silk, silk organza, or muslin.
- Tailor's Sponge
